New Call for
Papers on the Economics of Natural Disasters |
The conference is planning to have one or two sessions on the
economics of natural disasters. If you are interested in presenting
a paper on relevant issues, either theoretic, empirical, or country
specific, please send me a draft or an extended abstract (500+
words), preferably by June 24.
We just received a
small grant to cover PART of the costs of traveling, accommodation,
and registration fee of some of the presenters in these sessions. If
you are interested, please specify the amount of subsidy you will
want when submitting the paper. The amount of subsidy, if any, will
depend on the number and amounts of requests. |
This is the second conference of
the association. Please click
here for information about the first conference, held at Hitotsubashi
University, Tokyo, Japan on July 30-31, 2005.
Economists are invited to submit
papers for presentation in the conference. Papers on all economics fields,
either theoretical or empirical, are welcome. A few sessions for graduate
students in doctoral programs are planned.
Please send the draft of a paper
or an extended abstract, together with the e-mail addresses, affiliation,
mailing addresses, phone and fax numbers of all co-authors, either via
e-mail (highly preferred) or regular mail, by February 15,
2006 to
Professor Sven Arndt
Lowe Institute of Political
Economy
850 Columbia Ave.
Claremont McKenna College
Claremont, CA 91711
U. S. A.
e-mail address: mailto:lowe@claremontmckenna.edu
Economists are also welcome to
organize sessions in the conference. Each session will last for 2 hours,
consisting of four papers (between three and five papers are possible),
one chair (not necessarily the same as the session organizer but should
not be one of the presenters or discussants), and the corresponding
discussants. Please submit a proposal for one or two sessions to Professor
Sven Arndt by February 28, 2006. The proposal should include
an explanation of the theme and all papers to be presented. The proposal
should provide an explanation of the theme and all papers to be presented,
including the e-mail and postal addresses, affiliations, phone and fax
numbers of the organizer, session chair, presenters, and
discussants.

A Volume
of Current Issues |
Yin-Wong Cheung of UC, Santa Cruz
and Kar-yiu Wong are editing a volume of current economic issues facing
the Asia-Pacific Economies. Both theoretical and empirical papers
pertinent to the nexus of trade and finance, regionalism, free trade
areas, monetary union, capital/bond market developments are especially
welcome.
If interested in having your paper
considered for the volume, please send your submission (either an extended
abstract or a draft of your paper) by February 15, 2006 to Sven Arndt, with a copy to Yin-Wong Cheung at <cheung@ucsc.edu> or Professor
Yin-Wong Cheung, Economics Department E2, University of California at
Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz CA, 95064. USA. In your message to Yin-Wong Cheung, please indicate
that you are submitting your paper to the volume. Manuscripts will be
revised after the conference, and will be subject to the regular

Kar-yiu Wong, in cooperation
with its managing editor, Anis
Chowdhury, will guest edit
a special issue of the Journal of Asia
Pacific Economy (Routledge, UK). The special issue will focus on
some of the issues related to the economic relations among the economies
in the Asia-Pacific region. We will narrow down the theme as we receive
submissions. If you are interested in having your paper considered for
inclusion in the special issue, please send your submission (an extended
abstract or a draft of your paper) by February 15,
2006 to both Sven Arndt and Kar-yiu Wong at <karyiu@u.washington.edu>. In
your message to Kar-yiu Wong, please indicate that you are submitting your
paper to the special issue. Manuscripts will be revised after the
conference, and will be subject to the regular refereeing process.
Final versions for presentation of
accepted papers will be due on June 30,
2006.

from least developing countries will get a 50% discount in the
registration fee. All participants, except invited guests and speakers,
are responsible for their traveling expenses, accommodation cost, and
