This is the fourth annual conference of the association. The first three conferences were held at Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo on July 30-31, 2005, the University of Washington, Seattle on July 29-30, 2006, and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong on July 25-26, 2007. Please go to the home pages of these conferences for the programs and the papers presented.

Submission

Economists are invited to submit papers for presentation in the conference. Papers in all economics fields, either theoretical or empirical, and whether or not directly related to the Asia-Pacific economies, are welcome. A few sessions for graduate students in doctoral programs are planned.

The deadline for submitting a paper (or an extended abstract with at least 300 words) is May 31, 2008. Please send your submission, preferably by e-mail, to either Professor LI Jie or Professor Shin-ichi Fukuda:

  • for people in Mainland China: Please send the submission to Professor LI Jie <jieli.cn@gmail.com>, Chinese Academy of Finance and Development, Central University of Finance and Economics, 39 South College Road, Haidian District, Beijing 100081, China.

  • for people in other areas: Please send the submission to Professor Shin-ichi Fukuda <sfukuda2@e.u-tokyo.ac.jp>, Department of Economics, University of Tokyo, 7-3-1, Hongo, Bunkyo, Tokyo 113-8656, Japan.

Please include in your submission the following information of you and all other co-authors (if any): name, e-mail address, affiliation, academic rank (or graduate student), and mailing address.

Organizing a Session

Economists are also welcome to organize sessions in the conference. Each session will last for 2 hours, consisting of four papers (three or five papers are possible), one chair (not necessarily the session organizer but preferably not one of the presenters or discussants), and the corresponding discussants. Please submit a proposal for one or two sessions to Professor LI of Central University of Finance and Economics or Professor Fukuda (of the University of Tokyo), depending on where you are. The proposal should provide an explanation of the theme and all papers to be presented, including the e-mail and mailing addresses, affiliations, academic ranks, and phone and fax numbers of the organizer, session chair, presenters, and discussants.

  • for people in Mainland China: Please send the submission to Professor LI Jie <jieli.cn@gmail.com>, Chinese Academy of Finance and Development, Central University of Finance and Economics, 39 South College Road, Haidian District, Beijing 100081, China.
